Government Medical College, Sheopur is an upcoming medical institution established by the Department of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, with the objective of expanding quality medical education and healthcare services in the region. The college is scheduled to begin its first academic session from this year with an intake of 100–150 MBBS seats, as approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Under the able leadership of Dean Dr. R. K. S. Dhakad and Nodal Officer Dr. Anjana Niranjan, the institution is poised to become a center of academic and clinical excellence in the Chambal region. Located in the heart of Sheopur, this upcoming medical college aims to bridge the gap in quality medical education and healthcare services in the region.
The college is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern laboratories, practical halls, lecture theatres, and demonstration rooms, ensuring a comprehensive learning environment for budding medical professionals.
Plans are underway to recruit an experienced team of teaching faculty, resident doctors, and administrative staff, in line with NMC norms. The departments will encompass all core pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dermatology, Orthopedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, T.B. & Chest, Radiology, and more.
The academic block is equipped with modern lecture halls, practical labs, demonstration rooms, library, and e-learning facilities, ensuring an ideal learning environment for medical students. All departments – including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynecology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, TB & Chest, Radiology, and Anesthesia – are being developed in accordance with NMC guidelines.
Residential hostels for students and staff, recreational and sports facilities, and a secure, green campus are also part of the institutional setup.
A modern blood bank, modular operation theatres, well-furnished hostels, recreational amenities, and research facilities are also part of the institution’s vision to provide a holistic academic and professional environment. The college will also feature various committees such as the Anti-Ragging Committee, Medical Education Unit, Research Review Committee, Scientific Committee, and Cultural Committee to promote discipline, innovation, and overall development.
